On Sunday, Sept. 25, WMU-Cooley Law School held commencement ceremonies for graduates from the law school’s Michigan campuses at the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts in East Lansing, Michigan. The keynote was presented by Larry Nolan, president, State Bar of Michigan. Graduate Khadija Swims presented the valedictory remarks.

Nolan is the third WMU-Cooley graduate to hold the post, following Thomas Rombach who served from 2014-2015, and Charles R. Toy who served from 2009-2010.
Button TextOn Sept. 20, the Michigan House Criminal Justice Committee voted unanimously to send Senate Bill 291, a law providing compensation for wrongfully convicted Michigan citizens, and House Bill 5815, which provides for re-entry services to exonerees, to a full vote in front of the Michigan House of Representatives. Sen. Steve Bieda (D-Warren) introduced the legislation that will create the Wrongful Imprisonment Compensation Act.
