Earning a scholarship during the admissions process can significantly reduce the total cost of a legal education. At WMU-Cooley you can earn a 10-100% tuition scholarship that is applied to all 90 credits required for graduation. Scholarships are awarded in 10% increments.
Scholarships are based upon merit and are determined by analyzing your LSAT score and undergraduate grade point average using a formula that determines academic success based upon the academic outcomes of previously admitted students.
Applicants to WMU-Cooley can expect a clear indication of their scholarship eligibility when an official admission offer is made without conditions tied to the offer. You are encouraged to compare the total value of the scholarship with other scholarship offers you may receive.
To get a sense of how much money can be saved by receiving a scholarship, the following chart illustrates the approximate amount awarded based upon each level of scholarship. These estimates are based upon 2016-17 academic-year tuition rates.
All WMU-Cooley students who have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours are eligible for a scholarship based on their academic achievement. Scholarships will be awarded to the top 25 percent of those students in each of the credit hour completed groupings.
*A student qualifying for both entering and class ranking honors scholarships will be awarded the higher of the two and will retain their highest scholarship amount for the duration of the student's enrollment so long as the student is not subject to sanction under the Honor Code or Disciplinary Procedures. Each term, after examinations are completed and grades are determined, a class rank list is generated by the Registrar's Office of all students completing that term in academic good standing and who were not subject to sanction under the Honor Code or Disciplinary Procedures. Scholarship awards for enrolled students will be applied in the term following the calculation of class rank determining eligibility (normally two terms from the term of achievement). The initial Scholarship is continued for the duration of the student's enrollment at the law school only if the student is not subject to sanction under the Honor Code or Disciplinary Procedures, and WMU-Cooley Law School continues the Scholarship Program.
